Scotland voted more so to remain in the EU than the UK.

So did London, Liverpool, and Manchester amongst others. However, the result was calculated solely on the OVERALL number of votes cast nationally. Regional differences were, ultimately, of no consequence.

You're really struggling with this. The UK is a democracy, not a Scotocracy. We therefore go with the will of the whole population when the whole population is asked in a referendum; we cannot start picking and choosing the bits of that we want.

In summary.. So what? If England can so easily abandon its' biggest market, so can Scotland! After all, there are all these great new post Europe opportunities out there, are there not? Or is it only England that can create new markets for itself, but Scotland can't?

If it's good enough for Westminster to gaily abandon Europe, so can Scotland equally gaily abandon Westminster!

However, England is not expecting to cease trade with Europe, nor is it expecting to cease trade with its biggest trading partner, Eire. So what makes the likes of David Mundell, and his collaborators, think Scotland will cease to do trade with England with Independence? Or is it the case the London Government will be like Donald Trump and his "beautiful wall" across the Mexican border, and cease all trade with Scotland?

Look, these scare stories are just getting ridiculous. Scotland and England, as independent nations, should still be doing trade with each other, even if one is in EU, and the other not. And in the case of England, if Scotland is inside EU, and it will be, that would be to England's benefit. But it seems Westminster and its Establishment, both down there, and up here don't want any benefit to anyone, especially they don't want anything that would benefit Scotland. So be it. We will see how long that attitude lasts for !

There are many articles on the subject. One linked below. Many people born outside Scotland, usually from the EU or England, did not want to loose access to the EU hence a NO vote from them. Then it was driven by things such as the NHS and Currency.

This is not dissimilar to Sinn Fein's long held belief that Northern Ireland's Unionists don't really count.
