Merged thread concerning attacks in Europe

Now before everyone goes off, wait for the facts first (unlike old Boris did with the last one): https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...uthern-germany
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

Maybe if they had decided to do something different today:

New Addingtion stabbing: Young man rushed to hospital after he was repeatedly knifed at Croydon home | Crime | News | London Evening Standard
Wood Green stabbing: Teenager rushed to hospital after he was found knifed in north London street | Crime | News | London Evening Standard
Harlesden stabbing: boy, 18, found with knife wounds in High Street | Crime | News | London Evening Standard

          And that's just London...

Man arrested following death of girl, 16, in Nottinghamshire | Crime | News | London Evening Standard

I like the way that people automatically pick up on the Syrian refugee part of the article. Anyone know what nationality the woman was? Anyone know the cause?

            Boom, logic!

Thing is it is not a terrorist attack it seems to simply be an aggressive way of life where violence and murder is an acceptable option.

Not logic at all. Simply a possibility. And violence and murder among most Syrians is no more acceptable than it is to most of us - so little bit racist there. What if the victim was a Syrian woman known to the man? Would she be alive if they'd both stayed in Syria?

About ten years ago a man went mad with an axe on the high street of a small Swiss town (Liestal) - my son's class teacher took a bad cut to the shoulder and was off work for a while.

About five years ago, a guy drove his car across one of the bridges in Basel, aiming at cyclists. Killed three, injured a few more and a few pedestrians.

Both incidents would have made international news nowadays. I can't tell you if they were refugees or some other kind of foreigner, or even Swiss.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

Cheer up luckily the British Police were close by to assist. They arrested the BMW driver for Dangerous driving and let that nice Syrian off with words of advice.

Maybe I'm jaded but it always appears that the stabbings in London are gang violence and the gangs aren't from round here. Note how there are no descriptions of the attackers in any of those reports.

I'm pretty sure in Syria violence is more common and accepted than in the UK despite your sweeping and ignorant assertions, oh look its just like the UK (well the bits of the UK that think they are still at home and like to abuse women):

                https://www.madre.org/sites/default/...on%20Final.pdf

Since before the conflict began, discriminatory laws and practices encouraged impunity for
gender-based violence in Syria and prevented women, girls and LGBT people from accessing
justice. In the context of an armed conflict marked by gender-based violence; social stigma and
legal obstacles serve to isolate victims and bring them further harm. Syrian women and girls face
sexual violence, forced and early marriages, and "honor" crimes, amongst other forms of genderbased
violence; and they lack adequate protections, access to justice, and victim services.
                Sexual Violence
                3. Even before the conflict began in 2011, sexual violence was a continuing challenge in Syrian
society,iv and Syria lacked adequate services and shelter for victims.v
                Syrian activists were
working to change laws and discriminatory social attitudes that lead to gender-based violence.vi
Syria's criminal laws facilitate impunity for rape, while widespread harmful beliefs about rape
further endanger victims, including by placing them at risk of "honor" killing. In the midst of the
ongoing conflict, this legal and social underpinning results in horrific outcomes for victims.
Government forces and non-state armed actors have committed systematic rape and sexual
violence throughout the conflict, and the government has failed to ensure justice for victims or to
provide them needed services or protection.
                4. While the government failed to keep official statistics on rape and other forms of sexual
violence in Syria pre-conflict, women's advocates state that rape was a serious problem, with at
least 1,300 reported cases in 2009.vii The actual numbers are likely far higher, as Syrian women
rarely report rape, owing to the threat of severe social stigma and exclusion, as well as to
justified fears of further violence.viii Due to patriarchal norms, victims can be subjected to honor
killings by their families, or pressured by their families to marry the rapist.ix

Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

Perhaps a Syrian woman would have been hacked to death instead - and we would probably never get to hear about it.

The West hailed the Free Syrian Army as they emptied the prisons. The dysfunctional inmates fled to Europe and Angela Merkel welcomed them. What do you expect the result to be?
