Maybe the rest is from asylum? Perhaps that isn't counted as migration.

So, we're going to cut down on immigration and let another 10 million in?

I dunno. How many doctors and brickies per 1000 population do we need, and how does that compare to their prevalence in our immigrant population?

I'd like to see a breakdown of skills/education standard of the immigrants. From my experience a few percent are highly educated and skilled, most are just chancers down the car wash/pizza delivery/cleaners or recruitment agents.

Seriously, I would too. Lots of people generalise them as unskilled benefits tourists, then other people say "but look at all the doctors" as if that means they're ALL doctors. Some people show statistics claiming a net benefit from immigrants, others claim the opposite.

Generalising millions of people is rarely helpful.

But we'll have that referendum soon...

Migrants in the UK Labour Market: An Overview | The Migration Observatory

Low level skills. The graduates get the jobs in starbucks out competing lesser qualified UK workers. hardly any are engineers (plenty of anecdotes I am sure) IT specialists or "STEM" workers. Good number of builders (building more houses for fellow migrants self perpetuating population growth). NHS is the only "high end" skill employer proactively recruiting from abroad (doctors from everywhere)

The population in this country is booming but not with the skills that are really needed

The eastern europeans do work and they boost the economy but they are not bringing the real skills that this country needs. The apologists are pointing out the boost to the economy which is fine but we may as well assimilate the entire population of Poland into the UK - leaving behind their Stem workers and pensioners.

Yes the economy will grow but do we really want to live in a small country with a population of 100 million?

Furthermore the infrastructure needed to cope with education, housing transport and health will only play "catch up" making life here quite intolerable.

And we will ignore our own people if we can get cheap hard working bright immigrants. So social divides will be worse.
