They are soon going to increase the state pension age. I am sure the latest time the government can announce this is around the same they announce the EU referendum.

This means that the age you get a free bus pass etc also goes up.

The free bus pass comes out of local authority spending. There is an argument for having it as it helps to limit the number of dangerous older drivers on the road.

The winter fuel allowance was a short term bribe from the Labour party that went wrong.

I think the free bus pass is a great idea.

Retrospective tax credit withdrawal seems cruel. It's not like she can un-have the children. Consenting adults who cannot afford more children and have the 3rd or 4th or whatever child might think twice once they realise the credit is no longer available.

There are legions of silver boomers round here, legions. The majority have:

Cars - and bus passes
Large houses - and heating allowance
Final salary pensions - and triple locked state pension

Cameron was a tw@t when he said he was leaving them, and a double tw@t when he did it again.

If we all have to pay (I am not against this concept) then OAPs need to clean it up too.

But the 1%er's and the big corporates who avoid tax to the extreme. They REALLY need to pay up.

But they are all in the Tory public old boy lodge network. An THAT is the real scandal.

We're the 1%ers income wise that are being targeted. The thing is, since I'm living down south am young and inherited tulip, I'm actually relatively poor. Happily long term projections will turn that on it's head, but if you tax the likes of us enough, I'll be needing that state pension when I'm older.

We probably need land value tax to redistribute wealth. Obviously that won't capture all wealth, but it would cool the property market and be much more inline with taxing wealth as opposed to taxing income. I don't see either labour or the tories delivering such a thing though.

Yes indeed and maybe the two kids they have will learn the value of looking after yourself.

Rather being in a brood of 4 or5 with numerous absent fathers and learning to rely on handouts.

No one is forced to have kids so simply if you can't afford them bag it up.
