If you're used to working at a US or Swiss bank, the pace is a little slow... Lot's of Bob's (no surprise there). Lot's of slackers which can also make things a bit tedious after a while.
Lifts are a PITA and it's located in the devil's armpit - Canary Wharf, which, IMO, is the most depressing place I've ever worked.
aren't they shifting most of their IT to some sh1tty part of Scotland?
Think I saw a role in Stirling the other day that could potentially have been HSBC. Not a bad rate for Scotland though.
Thanks for the responses.
Actually bumped into an ex-colleague from permiedom today on the tube and he is at HSBC. Really likes it there, commented on their realistic project timescales, and the atmosphere being family centric, and that the office isn't really big enough and prob have to work from home sometimes as not enough desks, shame!!
6 days and counting.
Never has a man been heard to say on his death bed that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office.
I was offered a contract role 18 months ago after having to go through 2 interviews and a presentation/grilling on sound PM practices, only to be withdrawn the following week due to lack of budget approval. Would have enjoyed the role, shame about the messing around wasting everyone's time on both sides.

Yep that's the place. It amazes me how many corporations attempt to reduce costs by moving operations to the cheapest (i.e. worst) possible locations and then expect quality people to work there.
Some of the roles advertised in Stirling were across my skillset and paying around £500/day, which is no doubt good for Stirling but there is no way I would want to work there.
Why can't these companies just move a little further, like even out to the midlands, which is also cr@p and so by extension cheap.

I have my fingers crossed that everything that is going on in Halifax is still happening when this gig comes to an end. I'd love a commutable job for a bit. I'm getting sick of trecking down to London each week
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.
