Agent cc'ed email to client with my rate in it

Been renewed on my current gig and the agent cc'ed my renewal email (with the rate I'm getting) to the client. Can't figure out if it was intentional or not - was done in a rush on their end.

I've been contracting a few years now and this is the first time I've come across an agent disclosing *my* rate openly to the client. Didn't think it was in their interests to do that.

    Mistake, you think?

    That depends.

Some agencies are on fixed margins so are not necessarily trying to screw you and the client at the same time for the maximum possible.

Or he/she/it might just be incompetent. This is your chance to mention the email to the client and find out the margin the agent is working on if you don't know it already.

I guess this is the way it should be when working with fixed margins.

As a PM I often get to see my real costs (what the agency is billing) hit my budgets so it's easy to check. In the last couple of years the agents have told me the truth on their margins which is quite surprising really.

I always check if the agency is on a fixed margin agreement with the client.

I've always known what the client were paying.

Mostly becuase I'm the PM and I get the bills from the agency. Once had an agent argue with me over their rate saying they weren't on what they were, he claimed it was £50 a day less so I paid their bill at the reduced rate. He soon changed his tune
