Send CV and follow up call or just send CV

    Hi

Just polling the board. After spotting a job on a job site, do you send your CV in and follow up with a phone call or just send in your CV and hope for the best?

I've had mixed response from both approaches and I'm curious to find out what is working well for you guys.

Rare for me to follow up with a phone call unless I'm desperate and it's an exact match to my skill-set or perfect location. The key is to make sure your CV is better than 99% of the ones the pimps get, that way it sells itself and pretty much guarentees they call you!

Check for relevant buzzwords, send, forget. If you are a close match the agent will be on the phone like a shot - usually.

Where the agent has come back to you and said that he's going to put you forward for the role then if I haven't heard anything for a couple of days I might follow up with a phone call or email but this would depend upon how interested I am in the job.

I keep re-sending mine every hour until I get a response. Each one I send I increase the font size by a couple of points and then resort to brighter colours and flashing fonts.
