I was an IPSE Consultative Council Member, until the BoD abolished it. I am not an IPSE Member, since they have no longer have any relevance to me, as an IT Contractor. Read my lips...I recommend QDOS for ALL your Insurance requirements (Contact me for a referral code). -
Surely IPSE won’t take on pre-existing cases unless it’s of interest to them?Originally posted by malvolio View PostSo join. Benefits start when you do.

OP was looking for legal advice. That's always available. Nobody appears to be asking IPSE to 'take on a case'.Originally posted by eek View PostSurely IPSE won’t take on pre-existing cases unless it’s of interest to them?Comment

Absolutely - advice is one thing - exposure is anotherOriginally posted by v8gaz View PostOP was looking for legal advice. That's always available. Nobody appears to be asking IPSE to 'take on a case'.
Their advice could well be - "Sounds interesting and you probably have a case but we can't help (except on a T&M hourly rates basis) because you didn't have membership at the time of the issue"Comment

No. They will advise on points of law, which is what the OP is looking for. They cannot advise on individual contracts on the basis that (a) they have no visibility of the overall contractual nexus and (b) they cannot offer legally qualified opinion over the phone anyway.Originally posted by oilboil View PostAbsolutely - advice is one thing - exposure is another

In other words they give an expert view of the situation. What you do with it is up to you; it may of course include hiring a solicitor, but that would be an informed decision.
Also it's a membership service. Other than active cases (and even then there have been exceptions, such as Arctic Systems) IPSE have never said they won't handle pre-existing events.Blog? What blog...?
