3 agents all called be about the same role yesterday, its like the dotcom era or something. I take it as a positive sign. Was quite a niche role too and I just happen to fit it well, so fingers crossed.Comment

Am somewhat new / returning to the game , having been made redundant around Christmas time, but I've got to say the absolute state of fake recruiters is out of control.
Many known/big recruiters have accounts on LinkedIn ( the worst culprit for not monitoring / banning these people ) that are clones of real recruiters.
Given the current market, I've made around 600+ applications now, and some data roles are above 1500+ applications, there's a huge opportunity for phishing scams and data theft.
The somewhat reputable sites I've found ( that you don't need to click through 3 pages to see when an account signed up to determine if it's a bot/scam ) has been Cord.com but if anyone has any other recommendations I'd love to know.
3 Months after a short contract ended, there seem to be roles out there ( I'm a data guy , SQL / Qlik /Python / Excel ) but massively oversubscribe, and an absolute swamp of fake ones too - like a generic role listed on Indeed / Reed etc that links through to a site like 'StudySmarter' which has scraped JD's and put up a fake one to get you to sign up to their site/system.

Sometimes, I think perhaps I was one of the fortune ones to have been a contractor when the rates were reasonable and you could get a self cert mortgage.
One of the reasons why I live in London was due to the higher rates and better opportunities. Brexit, IR35, COVID have pretty much killed the Londoners usp.
Who knows what will happen if we do see another boom in the city, if ever, as we now have international markets for employments and agencies.
