Had a chat with a pimp today, it went like this
Him- why are there gaps on your CV
Me- Because it took time to get a role and then go through various vetting's
Him- What was the reason for you being turned down for roles
Me- I don't know, the agent won't say
Him- Did you ask the agent
Me- Yes, it was you for the last 4 applications. Tell me why I didn't get the role then
Click. End of phone call as he hung up.

Silicon valley between Oxford and Cambridge? Sounds like a new business park with a bus route. More houses between Oxford and London, ah yes, that will be for further immigration.

At least they know IT is suffering but like the rest of us, not sure what to do about it. Apart from of course to issue more visas

I can't be the only one thinking, it's the worse I have ever, ever seen it. No contracts, no perm jobs. Absolutely nothing out there.
Been contracting since 1998. So can only speak from then. But yes I have never seen anything like this before. Certainly not for this long anyway. How long has it been now? 2 1/2 years or more?

The bit I don't get is how all stock markets are going up to the sky, historical highs being registered yet there seems to be absolutely nothing happening in terms of projects / work. Seems like the only reason stocks are going up is...well because they are going up. More and more people buying them, which pushes them up. If you were to look at just the stock market, especially in the US, you'd think the industries are booming, but look at the job market and it couldn't be more gloom. When's the bluff call coming?

Problem is things get very petty in a buyers market.

Visas are a money earner for the government. All they have to do is offer paperwork to people wanting to come over.

I had it bad last year. Nothing for 5 months from the start of the year. I honestly thought I was done. Seems to have picked up now so this year looks a lot more promising. I honestly don't think at times theirs much you can do other than wait it out, if the roles are not available that match your skills your not going to get much. I hope things pick up for you and the others affected soon.

Doesn't help you I know but from what I'm seeing in my field anyway this year has started with lots of calls from agents so things are certainly happening behind the scenes.

They aren't a money earner when they have to pay people benefits and if immigration isn't reduced there is the Reform party waiting in the wings to tackle it with a sledgehammer.
