Getting employers or contractors through your Ltd?

    Hello,

I was wondering if anybody has experience placing people in roles for clients, making use of their own Limited.

Sometimes I'm sent roles by recruiters/agencies and know people that potentially could fit the job spec. In fact I might take some of these roles if I weren't already working fulltime on another contract.
Sometimes I don't know anybody in advance but could manage to find someone.
Then, my idea would be to try to place the person in the client, making use of my Limited, but here is where I start figuring out if I'm missing something.

I guess I can then employ a given person (within the payroll, with PAYE, etc.) or maybe being a contractor and pay them, but here is where I have problems figuring out who pay who and how much.

Not sure if I've explained myself good enough. Any suggestion is welcomed.

Sorry, but how can you not know?

presumably you've heard of employing someone as normal, or paying them like a contractor (the way an agency pays your Ltd)?

They could also be self employed of course.

Just seems weird how you could have no clue how you might pay someone.

      Groan...

If you'd bothered searching you'd see this is a very bad idea.

I'm quite new to contracting myself, so not really a lot of experience in this world, being perm all my life.

The thing is, of course I know I can employ people via my Ltd, where I'm struggling is in this situation:

        - A recruiter (from an agency) contacts me, with a job spec. for a ClientCo.
        - I can't take on this contract as I'm already in another so inform the recruiter I will find someone suitable.
        - I find someone else. From here, I can't really do nothing as I'm not the Agency neither a recruitment company, so I need to introduce my guy to the Agency and let the process begin, right?
        - Everything goes well, interviews, etc. and my guy got the contract.

Questions I have. Who on earth would prefer going via my Limited instead of going on their own? Also, this doesn't make sense if I don't get a cut, so of course there would need to be some kind of pre-agreement with the Agency that I would find someone with a rate X, but the Agency will really pay me X+10.

Got my point? Maybe I'm overthinking this.

        Thanks anyway.

Think factoring, insurances, extra admin, potential employment/pensions rights unless you pay a lawyer for watertight contracts, all extra costs, mistakes that could expose you, all for a fiver a day per subby?

          Go for it...

If you want to do this you effectively become an agency so need to consider everything that goes along with that.

Yeah, maybe you're right. I was just wondering if I could scale somehow my business and not being 100% dependant on my own contract.

              Thanks anyway.
