Who is this we? Do you work at air traffic control, if that's the case I will never fly anymore . What a dumbass -
FFS man! Why do you have to bring facts in to the discussion? You know it only causes confusion.Originally posted by Yorkie62 View PostBut we do control an awful lot of North Atlantic airspace.Comment

It isn't a "basic service", it means that British airlines will be allowed to fly into the EU, and out of the EU, but will not be allowed to operate flights within the EU and will not be a part of the EU's bilateral aviation treaties.Originally posted by BlasterBates View PostAlthough Airlines won't have the freedom to fly to the EU in the event of a no deal, the good news is that a basic service will be allowed.
Other than easyJet (which has already moved its intra-EU operation away from the UK to Austria), it isn't a particularly large market, but we have EU airlines like Wizzair, Ryanair and Norwegian operating flights to and from the UK which do not originate/end in the EU - not to mention that British Airways' parent company is Spanish.Taking a break from contractingComment

It’s international airspace, if Britain stops guiding airplanes in it then some other country will get lucrative contract to manage itOriginally posted by Yorkie62 View PostBut we do control an awful lot of North Atlantic airspace.Comment

Irrelevant, the U.K. cannot prevent the aircraft from flying into it, the same way that the EU cannot prevent U.K. aircraft flying into EU airspace. Unless the U.K. pulls a sickie and ATC goes on strike.Originally posted by Yorkie62 View PostBut we do control an awful lot of North Atlantic airspace.
The disruption will be for U.K. carriers that have scheduled flights between two EU landings. Ironically this will probably be more inconvenient for the U.K. carrier and for EU passengers rather than U.K. passengers.Comment

It’s very lucrative money wise, can’t see nay reasons why Ireland won’t be able to take over (other than building quickly necessary facilities), loss of earnings should be massive, probably enough to require state bailout of air controllers in UKOriginally posted by Zigenare View PostYep, eventually.Comment

I think I responded to your previous post on the matter in the affirmative.Originally posted by AtW View Post“Shanwick is the air traffic control (ATC) name given to the area of international airspace which lies above the northeast part of the Atlantic Ocean.”

How long do you think it would take to negotiate the treaties and agreements to replace the control of Shanwick?Comment
