NI is a terrible drag on the British Economy. I know most of the rest of the UK is a well but NI is nothing but very expensive trouble. It's full of either British-haters or British-loyalists who insist on behaving in an entirely un-British way. I bet there are a lot of politicians who secretly would like to get shot of it. However I suspect Ireland has neither the money nor the inclination to get involved.

You mean "un-British" in the sense that they would be inclined to ignore political mandates?

There seem to be plenty of those all across the islands, not just NI.

In common parlance, they have come to be known as "Bremoaners".
