    Oh dear: Brexit is cancelled

Theresa May will ask Cabinet for a customs union Brexit as DUP warns it could bring down her Government

Theresa May will on Thursday ask her Brexit “war Cabinet” to agree a backstop plan that would keep Britain in a customs union with Brussels until a permanent trade deal can be agreed (AtW's comment - which will be never).

British and EU negotiators are understood to have agreed in principle to an all-UK backstop plan to avoid a hard border in Northern Ireland that would remove the final major obstacle blocking a withdrawal agreement.

Boris Johnson said the deal would turn the UK into a “permanent EU colony” and the DUP angrily threatened to break its confidence and supply deal with the Conservatives and potentially bring down the Government if the Prime Minister goes through with the plan, which it described as a “sell out”.

All credit to Theresa May, and I hope history will eventually recognise her. She has supported Remain all along despite constant vitriolic attack from the Brexiteers within and without her party. She is leading the Tories into a damaging war but its in the best interests of the Country. It may even lead to a Corbyn government but that would be a temporary phenomenon whereas Brexit could scar us for generations.

both brexit and Corbyn would be devastating for the economy on their own, but the combination of them will be catastrophic.

From my perspectivce it's a very interesting experiment to see what happens when the stupids make decisions.

        Hard Brexit now!

It may be the latest ERG idea - force a GE, hope to lose to Labour (or a coalition), then blame Brexit on them, sweep into power a couple of years later and make sure their supporters believe that Labour/coalition were responsible for the cluster-f of the country.

Rule #1 of Brexit/Tory - find someone else to blame for your incompetence. (Foreigners/EU are a good starting point)
