Tory Brexit No Deal DOOM™: Brexit deal is 'dead'

EU says Theresa May's Brexit deal is 'dead' as it urges her to adopt Canada-style deal favoured by Boris Johnson

The EU has warned that Theresa May's Chequers plan is "dead" and is urging her to adopt a Canada-style deal favoured by Boris Johnson, according to Eurosceptic Tory MPs.

Michel Barnier, the EU's chief Brexit negotiator, "made clear" to MPs on the Brexit select committee that the Chequers plan is "not acceptable".

John Whittingdale, a Tory member of the Brexit select committee, told LBC :"What he did come forward with was an alternative which he was working on - which was based upon a free trade agreement such as the one signed with Canada, but with the agreement that we would continue to cooperate on security matters and a mutual recognition of standards.

    Dominic Raab not amused

Mr Raab did not find it funny when scallops were served for the working lunch with the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator Mr Barnier as the pair work to reach a deal between the the UK and the EU ahead of November’s deadline, the Times reported today.

    I'm alright Jack

At least the French Navy are standing up for the rules... and for the British

It's almost like amidst all the drunk old men in Brussels rattling their sabres and grabbing their tiny crotches the actual people of Europe are waking up to the reality of what is happening.

Not sure the RN has a frigate available to send out to the channel.

The french fishermen are banned from fishing for Scallops in August due to conservation. The UK fishermen had not signed up to the conservation agreement and took advantage and fished Scallops out of season. It is the UK fishermen who have been disingenuous.

Had the situation been in reverse; you would be still moaning about the french.

The British were doing it legally, the French got violent & the EU did nothing.

I agree if the beds shouldn't be fished for conservation reasons then by all means arrange that with all parties before the season starts. If you can't then discuss it calmly and legally not throw rocks or steal lobster pots.

If the British were attacking the French without cause I would be backing the French.
