Brexit news: South Korea want a speedy trade deal with UK - but there's a catch | UK | News | Express.co.uk

South Korea don't just want to continue the same trade deal they had with the EU with the UK after Brexit, now they're dealing with a "weaker" negotiating partner, they want concessions.

This means not only will the UK have a sh*ttier deal with the EU, they'll also have to sign 50 new sh*tty deals to boot.

    oh dear.....

Anyway hopefully people are not put off too much by the smell of chlorine.

If we had sensible leadership the UK would just "drop the mic" now and get on with a WTO rules transition.

It would shut down the charade that the EU are negotiating with the UK. The civil service could get on with sorting out the post Brexit relationship with EU with a no deal. It would save whatever money the EU are demanding for the UK to leave and any transition sums + would allow the current work being done on a "deal" to be stopped. They could then get on with negotiating and lining up trade deals to start on the day the UK leaves.

Interesting article, so the UK has already agreed transitional deals with 40 countries. Not clear what the South Koreans would want other than regulations on certificate of origin. I expect that relates to origin of goods assembled in the UK. Sort of like that Semi-conductor plant in Scotland that they built but never operated. Of course the EU had nothing to do with that ...

Germany and France put their foot down, pay up or else

The UK will have to roll over and have it's bottom smacked if it wants to continue.

So you have run out of arguments now? Can the UK take over existing EU trade agreements? - BBC News

The trade minister has asked and confirmed that the existing 60 agreements will be rolled over. - Clearly the UK can't agree this till the EU negotiation is completed and/or the UK leaves the EU as the UK government is still subject to the EU on trade policy.

Not quite true. Initial "back of a fag packet" discussions have been completed by the ex trade minister, but even Liam Fox admits that the job is nowhere near agreed, and that the third parties will put pressure on for changes to the agreements.
