Donald Tusk: EU must stay united or face Brexit 'defeat' - BBC News

Why does he have to talk about victory or defeat? Shouldn't he be worried about getting best best deal for the EU(regardless of how the UK does)?

Getting 27 countries to agree on anything will be very difficult so looks like he has a point. However getting 27 countries to agree on anything will be a reach.

Hammond started it off by talking about the enemy.

Particularly as some of those 27 will probably need to get internal agreement from Federal/devolved parts of the countries as well, e.g. EU-Canada trade deal was very nearly derailed after years of negotiation when Wallonia said it might not ratify unless Belgian govt gave various concessions

Ironically the widely disparate group of EU27 have shown more unity thus far than the Tory cabinet who display all the unity of ferrets fighting in a sack.
          Hard Brexit now!

Surely the EUSSR superstate will just dictate to its vassal states that they must sign up to whatever the EUSSR decides!

Very true. He did apologize afterwards.

Indeed. The only time they get into any sort of line is to stab May in the back.

That is what they are alluding to. However, I suspect Germany will decide the future.
