My recent capital purchase (>£2k) had a number of products on it that had a manufacturer rebate element.
What I want to understand is two things;
1) I'm guessing any money from these "perks" will be subject to the same tax as any other income - so 20% would be deducted at year end? Is that right?
2) I may be overthinking this one, but does the value of the rebates have any correlation to the value of the order in relation to the £2k threshold for capital purchases.
To explain this, say I spent £2100 including VAT, I could reclaim the VAT and offset against t my corporation tax. If there were then say £200 of rebates - would those reduce the "spend" (in HMRC's views) to £1900 - or are they dealt with separately?
