Looking grim for me at the moment. May have to bite the bullet on this one unless things change.
Obviously I regret getting inolved in the first place. But assurances were given about the legitimacy of the schemes. My fault I guess for not doing due dilligence.
If your arrangement received a DOTAS reference then that reference should have been included on your SAR. You should find it there.

I am sorry but I have to disagree with your accountant.

Is your letter from HMRC worded like this?

If so, then HMRC may just be trying it on.

It would cost you nothing to appeal, and the grounds would simply be that the loan was not income. This will put the ball back in HMRC's court and test if there is any substance behind their rhetoric.

        Horizon\castlemaine can be contacted on 0870 778 0063

I have had the same letter and have spoken to castlemaine this morning (they are acting as accountants for Horizon). They will be looking after this for me. Have a chat with Julia Parker.

          Hi

I have been worried sick since receiving this letter from HMRC a few days back. Thanks God I have managed to find this thread and contact Julia.

          Cheers

Can any of the offshore experts comment on the budget measures? It looks like HMRC are clamping down on some schemes from today with further measures to be introduced in the 2014 budget?

                  GAAR 2013 Legislation

Looks to me its end game to all forms of tax planning concerning numerous marketed schemes.

Appears many in business are bemoaning it will create uncertainty and confusion. Well imo thats exactly what HMRC wanted from this.

I can not believe any exising arrangements will survive the uncertainty, the GAAR appears to be the end game.

First time poster - looking for assistance with Umbrella companies

                    Hey,

Just wondering if anyone knew what is happening with the loan structure through Umbrella companies? A lot of my friends tell me I need to jump ship.

                    Thanks,

Has anyone else received a follow up letter yet? No real facts. Just an opinion that money is due and how to pay if I would like to. Mentions that they will write again once they have clarified matters with Horizons accountant
