Paid Tax/NI twice for same month. What to do?

Whilst paying my Tax/NI for period ending in Jan. I noticed that when I made the payment I did it for the period ending in December which now means that I've paid the December period twice.

Do I call HMRC and ask them to move the payment to the January period or....?

Just deduct it next time. All checks are made for the whole year based on as your end year forms.

You can call them up and simply ask for the payment to be reallocated to the correct period. Should take a couple of minutes once you get through to speak to someone at the other end. This way, it is correct and you won't get an automatic reminder letter from HMRC chasing for a payment for January's PAYE.

There's a form on their website somewhere that tells them nothing is due for the month. As Xoggoth says, it doesn't matter as long as it all adds up at the end of the year, but they expect a payment every month otherwise they'll start sending you nasty reminder letters.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.
