    Mileage and IR35

    Hi all

I setup a Ltd company about 2 years back and have several clients. Total revenue is currently less than 20k but am just about to go contracting.

I understand there is an issue with claiming mileage back if you are going to it as a place of work but if I already have a few clients and now this new contract is considered an additional client (although paying a hell of a lot more than the other clients) can I claim mileage back?

Does it make a difference that I had a Ltd Company setup prior to starting my first contract? Or is it the same thing?

    Thanks

Have you read any of the beginners guides?

Have you talked to/emailed your accountant?

Have you used the search facility on the board?

The answers to your questions are already available so do a little research before posting.

I concur with SueEllen but, for expediency:

Once you know you will be in the same place for 2 years, you must stop claiming mileage (and subsistence I believe), as it is considered your main place of work.

Place being based on location, not client, so, for example, if I have been working at 35 Bishopsgate and I get a new gig at 100 Bishopsgate, it is considered the same 'place'.

But, given this is a forum and advice is free, check it out yourself to ensure you understand fully...
      Older and ...well, just older!!
