Hi all,
I am leaving the UK to go travelling at the end of the year (next month). After I leave, I will be providing services to the client for a further month from abroad.
Once I have left the UK, I do not intend to return to stay. I have a residency visa for Canada, so once the travels are over, after a short stay in the UK (2 weeks perhaps), i'll be off to Canada to settle.
I'm just wondering what I ought to be doing here.
1) In January I will need to complete a self assesment, but im not here. What should I do?
2) I can't close my Ltd down before I leave as I need it to bill the client. I am thinking about leaving it open for the duration of my holiday incase some adhoc work comes in, quite likely. However, should I be closing it and taking taper relief??? There will be 50k in the company account.
3) From January, can I now fill in the appropriate HMRC forms to say I will be leaving the UK? So no longer paying any Tax or NI on earnings or divvies?
Any help working out the best plans would be appreciated.
TM
