    What I want from an accountant

    So I am currently with one of the IOM schemes, and considering my options especially from middle of July onwards.

    I guess the Ltd is a reasonable route and probably most sensible, so I am on the lookout for a good accountant, and this is what I am after

    * Unlimited advice on tax, business and contract issues (and I mean unlimited!)
    * Willing to take on an ex-IOM scheme user
    * Basic book-keeping
    * A monthly summary showing wages/divi split plus all provisions needed
    * VAT return completion
    * All year end work

    I have had a Ltd before from a popular contractor accountant but they were very reluctant to give tax and contract advice, and so now am looking for someone who is a bit more helpful in that regard.

    Anyway, can anyone recommend a good accountant, I already have a dormant Ltd ready to go, just need to setup a company bank account. I have had a local accountant in the Village helping me with SA and stuff related to dormant Ltd, but don't think they really specialize in contractor accounts and they are rather expensive.

    Cheers

    Politicians are wonderfull people, as long as they stay away from things they don't understand, like working for a living!

    I can recommend Darren at Upton Accountants. I've found them to be proactive and also offer a higher level of service than I have received from the other contractor accountants (and I've been through a couple of those). Price is good as well!!

    In terms of the IOM angle, I don't know specifically what you would want an accountant to do in that respect but I would give him a call and find out.
    Older and ...well, just older!!

            Tax, yes fair enough.

            Business, financial implications maybe but any commercial decisions should be made by yourself.

            Contract, Apart from an IR35 review if using one of the PCG assured ones, I'd prefer to use a specialist solicitor.

            Plus "Unlimited".... if you take the p1ss don't be surprised if they start charging you more. But for day to day questions, fine.

              What you are looking for is exactly the service we provide. We are happy to take on ex-IOM customers.

              Our advice is totally unlimited. We take the view that some clients will ask for a lot of advice and some will ask for virtually none so it balances itself out.

              PM me if you need any info.
