    Companies House ID Verification

Is anyone else blocked from verifying their ID on Companies House?

Having an infuriating time trying to verify ID - essentially I've somehow managed to block the process for both my wife and I, and am now advised I need to contact an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) in order to verify (won't let me verify online or to generate the code to visit the post office).

I've emailed the service but had a generic response which doesn't answer my question. My accountant (Gorilla) have advised they're not ACSP authorised.

Ironically, currently remortgaging and passed a similar online ID verification process at first attempt - pretty vanilla in terms of circumstances and nothing funky about what a credit search would return. UK born and bred, same address for the last 6.5 years, everything registered to this address etc.....

Has anyone else had to go down the ACSP route?

I haven't used an ACSP, but I know some people who used Bourse Company Services. That cost £42 and it was a very quick turnaround.

There's a full list of ACSPs here:

It might be worth picking one that's local to you, in case they want to see you in person.

I tried back in November when they just introduced this and it failed.
My wife who is a shareholder got a mail in January and she succeeded.
Apparently you just have to wait until it's your turn, (you should get notified about it) and try again

My understanding based on exchanges with Companies House is that the issue is due to them receiving an "unprecedented number of requests". So it might indeed get better with trial over time.

I few people I know did the needful back in November and have come up against having to do it again to validate the PSC part of their annual statement. The letter from CoHo seems mildly threatening and the instructions aren't exactly clear.

From what I've understood (not having seen the letter that gets sent), there's a URL to type in (because let's not give scammers the opportunity to set up a website that takes advantage of typos) and another validation process to go through. The URL is separate to any other one that you'd expect to link to your company's records with CoHo because that also makes the process intuitive and easy to follow.

Presumably it's unprecedented because they didn't previously bother their arses checking anyone's details.

Welcome to UK IT/admin - and people ask why I am opposed to compulsory government ID.

Done mine ages ago and shows as verified. But been getting regular emails / letters from them threatening me that it's against the law not to comply. Even when I send them screenshots of it showing me as being verified they ignore it and send me a link that doesn't work.

                    Usual government tulip show.
