If I go out with the project board and execs for a few drinks I know I charge my drinks to the company as Business Entertaining, but what about the travel?
Is that an expense or more entertaining?
I would say it’s other business travel (if you can justify a business purpose for attending) or simply personal travel and not deductible.
The actual costs incurred at the meeting (buying drinks for client) are business entertaining. YourCo can still pay though.
Also worth bearing in mind that whilst entertaining clients is not tax deductible there also has to be a business purpose to the entertainment (eg discussing a project or new work etc) otherwise any costs paid by the business are a BIK and reportable.
