    SC Clearance Fees

Having recently taken up a contract role via an umbrella company which involves MOD work, I had to go through and fill out various forms to gain Security Clearance.

Now the company informs me there is a admin fee of £50+VAT that they are passing on to me.

Is it correct that I am being made liable for this?

If so do you think I should be able to submit it with my expenses for tax relief?

Nobody charges for Clearance it is a cost to the hiring authority... They do charge for Disclosure Scotland and CRB checks though.

Might be an idea to find out what you've been charged for.

If you are, for some obscure reason, then it is a legitimate business cost of course.

Incidentally those are DVA fees (or whoever they are now). The true cost of a DV vet is around £10k, and SC about £2k
