  6. Stupid Broadband question

Is there any difference between the kind of broadband you get from BT (over a BT phone line) and the kind you get with Telewest Blueyonder (on cable)? I could have either where I live, and was just wondering if there is a technical difference. E.g. is one broadband broader than the other?
