How do some sites show a bunch of links in Google results?

If you google-search "contractoruk" you get not just the title & link, but a brief description and a table of 8 links. Is this what a sitemap is for or is it something else that makes this possible? If so what are the search terms or some links to understand it?

Why not use Google itself to search for the answer?
