    Although on key bit of functionality taken out is that they don't over heat and melt the internal solder joints like my first PS3 did

      Yes, my son is on his 3rd PS3 (last one failed the day before the slim line ones came out). So far, the slim line version has been more relaible and runs noticeably cooler, smaller power supply etc...
