Didn't seem to help!

Switched this off and the problem still exists.

I get the error message "Unable to connect".....

Daft question.... is the printer connected to your wired computer and shared? If so, what operating systems are on your 2 computers? Is the printer a visible share on the wired computer? I would personally try and connect direct (as already suggested) via ip and tcp port (i think) 9100.

BTW, the best way to find out what IP address a machine is using is via command line... ipconfig /all. I suspect that it is, especially if you are using dhcp.. but just want to make sure that it isn't using a 169 address. I can only assume that you are able to access the internet ok'ish via the laptop.

According to the first post, the printer is connected directly to the router

Thanks for all the responses guys - useful information for reference. Having thought it through I went back to basics again and re-installed the drivers for the printer and it seems to work OK now.

I appreciate the suggestions.
