New Phone Needed - Page 2

I currently have a Nokia N73 which I use for surfing (reading this site is easyish but posting is possible but a pain in the arris) and as a modem via bluetooth connecting to t'interweb using my ubuntu/vista dual-boot lappy, and whilst on trains etc for access to e-mail via GoogleMail's little java app for symbian.

I was all set to try and badger the provider (3) for an 8gb N95 but then the blinkin' 3g iPhone comes out. As I understand it, I couldn't use the iPhone as a modem though - is this true?

Was also wondering about something like an HTC with a keyboard.

One claim made for the IPhone is that surfing is faster than on the N95 - how can that be?

All wisdom greatfully received - I am overdue an upgrade so am ready to change to O2 to get the iPhone.

I am in the exact same position, i.e. have N73, overdue an upgrade and considering the iPhone. That's if they have any stock of course.

The only possible downside (depending on your affinity to Microsoft) is that it's a Windows Mobile device and will never be as pretty as an iPhone, although I've just reflashed the ROM from v6.0 to v6.1 and it does seem to have improved the speed and stability a little.

As a business phone it does everything I need.

No problem PB, I should have said in the original post that I don't like Nokia's anyway.

I've just seen the Blackberry Bold and registered for updates, so I think I'll hold out for that. Looks professional, seems to have all the stuff I need plus sat-nav's a bonus.

Agree with pmeswani in that the iPhone's not as business-like as I'd prefer, and although it does have some cool features I'd probably only use them once.

I'm for the N95 8Gb with the latest firmware. Don't bother using the SatNav though - it's not much more than a gimmick on the N95 platform.

Blackberry 8120 - I have mine on Orange and can use the Wifi browser at home or work. I never exceed the Mb dowload limit as I don't surf outside a Wifi zone.

You would actually have to pay me money to go back to Windows Mobile again.

It's a complete pile of god only knows what at 5.0 and I'm not sure if 6.0 is any better.

Blackberry all the way for me, the full keyboard on my Curve is a joy.

I've waited a couple of months for the Bold to come out. The Sim free version will cost about £500 give or take.

Just found http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/25/b...-date-delayed/. I'm hoping the issues will be resolved soon.
