To discuss the changes to PS contracts that are due later this year.
What's this all about then?
In the 2016 Autumn Statement, the Chancellor confirmed that from the start of the following tax year (from April 6th 2017), the status of contractors / freelancers in the public sector would be assessed by the public sector body (PSB) engaging them either directly or...

Is there a list somewhere to identify which organisation falls under public sector?
The reason for the question is I have been put forward by the agent to couple of organisation for new role. The agent did mention that it's not public sector but I don't want to take his word at face...
Poll is in relation to the new rules.
To make the sample accurate please only vote if you are or very recently were a public sector contractor and are affected by the new legislation.

What do people think about these clauses inserted in a contract by an Agency for an Outisde-Ir35 assignment (they are the 'company', I am the 'service provider'):
" - The Service Provider shall indemnify the Company from all claims, actions or demands by third parties (which shall...
Are people planning to leave their current contracts by April 2017 ?
What's the chances of being billed for PAYE from the date they started.
I'm assuming the revenue will investigate anyone who goes from outside to inside IR35 working on the same contract or similar ?
Just had my new Ltd Co candidate agreement from Agency who are seeking indemnification for a period of up to 6 years from the end of the tax year in respect of loss, claim, penalty, fine or damages incl. costs arising from any claim by HMRC.
Is this legal?
Thanks for any thoughts ...

HMRC puts its own IT contractors inside IR35 :: Contractor UK
Contract finished at the end of last month and seem to be on track to have final payment by 5 Apr.
No immediate prospect of new contracts though there may be something from the recent SC expo.
I've got an open mind to future inside or outside PS Contracts, or even a retreat...
What do you make of the findings/opinions in this article about HMRC's delivery timeline for various IR35-related things?
Right so, have read an IPSE article and had a bit of a trawl around here, including a look at the classification spreadsheet NUK posted link to. I'm still struggling to really pin this down though. Apologies in advance if there is a post somewhere that answers this...

So whats the best approach if you've already got a limited company?
Since there are no expenses is it better to just go umbrella or something like paystream?
I guess you'd still need to keep paying things like accountants, ipse membership, insurance though. But you'd have no money coming into...
I've not been around the public sector very long. If I am offered a contract inside a public sector body and they assess that the role offered is outside IR35, and I have written confirmation including output from HMRC's tool that says the role is outside. Later on, if someone scrutinises...
I do locum work for the NHS but also a little bit of private ad hoc work as well.
My question is.. can I just continue to work through my Limited Company and be taxed PAYE?
I don't understand the benefit of umbrellas when:
A) they charge a weekly fee (which would be more than my accountant...
I have received this email from one of the healthcare agencies
"I am sure you will have been aware that NHS Improvement was planning to introduce new recruitment rules preventing substantive staff from working as agency staff from 1 April 2017.

I have been contracting for a University for over 2 years on the same project. When I heard about the new regulations, I assumed it didn't apply to me, because the University "is not public sector". I thought Public Sector only applied to Government.
Then, about a month ago, my agent called...
All of the HMRC contractors in Worthing and probably in Southendonsea and Telford have been declared in scope of IR35 and seems like they have gone for blanket approach with couple of answers in the tool not in synch with the contract terms agreed and even they got few job titles wrong. Can...
Long time lurker, first time poster (please be gentle)..
I just wanted your good people’s thoughts on my particular situation with regard to this whole public sector debacle (I was going to post in the Staying In Public Sector thread - but thought I'd start a new one as that is...
My current contract started 2 weeks ago, the engager agreed terms with me around my working practice which would place me outside but are saying they've made a blanket decision (my words not theirs!) on all contractors of inside.
My former engager, which I left 4 months ago, has offered me a...
