Summer break = Quiet Job Market?

Just arrived in London from Oz...looking for PeopleSoft contracts in London.

Not a lot of contract roles on Jobserve...

Would you agree that it's quiet because key decision makers at client sites are still away on summer holiday?

Or has the PeopleSoft contract market gone belly up/gone to India?

    Comments?

Tip, "G'day, I like the kangaroos" is not always a good opening statement when speaking to an agent, failing that, there's always bar work at The Walkabout in Shepherds Bush

Not really helpful, are we ?

As you posted in the right area and asked quite a sensible qn (unlike the majority who come here and ask the most stupid ones), the short answer is:
                1. August is probably the quietest month (as you gather it's to do with the summer holidays over here), thus agents can't get hold of any decent PMs.
                2. Moreover, the Peoplesoft market has died a slow death in the hands of consultancies and outsourcers, hence there is a distinct lack of demand for single contractors. The most you can pick up is a 2/3 m upgrade. This applies to other areas, eg CRMs like Siebel etc that seem to have also disappeared lately.

There's at least a dozen in Oz according to Jobserve..... did you buy a return ticket ?

Seriously though, you should look out for Oracle Fusion projects, then cross-over into Oracle and out of Peoplesoft as fast as you can !

                    PS on PS

Let's not forget that Peoplesoft (as well as Siebel) are now owned by Oracle and are no longer sold as stand-alone apps but only as part of an Oracle package (allegedly)
