    Boosting wifi signal

Been trying to find a way to boost a wifi signal at top/back of house without lot of rewiring/relocation. Ideally something that works with both PCs and phones, so not a plug in PC thing.

    Any ideas?

You need a dedicated wireless repeater or another WiFi router which, I believe, can be configured to act as a repeater.

Cheers. Found an item on that as I do have a spare router. Looks really complicated setup though. However, on same link I found you can make an arial reflector with an old pie tin. Might try that first.

      PS Or a Pringles Can.

Putting a wok behind the antenna sometimes helps too.

The Pringles Can apparently can be very effective. 802.11 signals can travel for miles if they are directionally focused.

Cheers. I got a big bit of cardboard, stuck some foil on it and bent it round behind router. I now get wifi in my office on phone and laptop. Signal shows as very weak but it works.

dd-wrt - reflash it and put more power through the RF.

Its a faf, but my dlink 300 got a longer range and performed better afterwards.

I budged up the power, however, you can fry it if you are careless.
