I was looking to get a Skype phone number; you can pick which country it's in so this seems a cool way to provide a business phone number in the USA for my plan B.

As part of this you have to choose your state and area code... as a tech company CA seems best but does it matter one jot which area code I pick? Most of them I've never heard of... is there a way to see these area codes on a map?

I have a couple of Skype US numbers as I deal with the US 90% of the time, CA and NY to cover time differences.

Work's perfectly although some people express surprise when they hear a Scottish accent.

Just the same as a regular Skype to Skype call and the quality is always excellent. Keeps costs down for the US people as they're happy to dial a number whichever coast they're closest to.

Yeah, its like a regular skype call. Calls through skype have excellent audio quality so you are good to go.
