    Anyone got experience of working in Iraq on a long term contract

    More importantly the tax treatment iof income earnt there as I have been offerd a long terms contract there ie 9 months

        How many zeroes on the rate?

        I would look for a seven digit salary for the nine months (in US$).

        BTW, there's a reason why the contract's only 9 months......

          Had the chance to do a stint in "Theatre of Operations (Iraq)" in my last gig, turned it down as you were confined to one building for the entire 6 months. Though every chance your gig may be different, hopefully!!

              Basically you don't pay any tax. A friend went out there for 2 years with the Army (she is a TA Seargent) and then for another year with a bank/development fund.

              Basically it was all more or less cash in hand.

                    I know someone who wanted to do it 3 years ago. He was offered something like a thousand pounds a day plus body guards and all expenses. My advice was don't be so f*****g stupid as his family especially his mother didn't want him coming back in a body bag! (I know his family better than him.)

                    Mind you they may presume you are British so not worth blowing up etc. this guy has a US accent.
