    ODBC/ASP Problem.

    Chaps.

I seem to have developed a problem and I reckon i've got it down to ODBC.

I installed .NET and Crystal 8.5 a few months ago. I developed some sites and used an Access DSN. When I use ASP I dont assign the driver I connect with the DSN and it takes the default.

Next I uninstalled Crystal 8.5 and installed Crystal 6.
Now I cannot get any new DSN connections to work while the old ones still work. I'm assuming that the drivers have got f@cked somehow but Im not sure how,

Any Suggestions as I'm mighty pissed off....

    I would guess

I would guess that you now have two sets of drivers in your system one from your previous setup and an older set from the installation of CR 6. Windows has then done its usual trick of marking the CR6 as the current ones while forgetting to mention that they can't work because the more recent ones still exist and have priority elsewhere.

Best solution is to probably uninstall everything and then reinstall CR6 followed by .net. Quick solution is to visit www.microsoft.com/data/download.htm and install MDAC 2.6 and add the jet connection separately (no guarantee this would solve anything mind).

        Now Im really in @#%$

Well I have a major problem now.
I followed the instructions on Microsoft which was too put the Windows CD back in and hit upgrade. Only goes over the drivers it said. Yes it does - every @#%$ driver.
Now I have a major problem. Its gone over the modem driver, display driver, sound card driver, cd rom driver. I cant get on the net apart from my girlfriend Mac!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now I reckon I have the right modem driver but when I have installed it it still wont get a connection. I assume I need to do something in the BIOS. Does anyone know what???????????
This is quite urgent now as well. Any help please!!!!!

Re: Now Im really in @#%$

If I interpreted your last post correctly there was a lesson to be learnt here.

Your girlfriend has more sense than you. Use a Mac!

Pardon my MS (wash out mouth) ignorance but shouldn't you have looked through the registry looking for an entry that referenced the version you had removed?
