    So Many questions..

    Hi

Right I've taken the plunge and jacked in my job to go contracting.

I've worked in IT for 10 years now and I'm now approaching mid 30's I have MCSE in NT4,2000 & 2003 with real world experience.
I'm currently about to complete my Citrix CCEA.

I've worked for 3 Blue chip companies over the last 10 years including a large bank.

1 Which is the best agency to go for as i have offer for 3 month contract..

2 What rates should i be looking at charging out at?

3 Anything else I need to know. For interviews do contracters just say whatever to get the job then learn whilst there? (this is what i been told so apologies for offending anyone).

    Cheers

    Phil

        Seriously:

You will be told different things by different people about agents and everyone has a different story to tell. If you have the contract, first find out if you can go direct and if so do so. If you need to have an agent then PM me and I'll put you in touch with a contact of mine who is a top guy.

Phil, you don't say what you can do, if it's general support work then welcome to the bottom of the pile (I know, I did many years of it when it paid well !). MCSE is better than nothing but only just these days, devalued by the whole world doing it. The blue chips help a bit.
If you have the contract already, sure someone on here can put you in touch with an agent. I was told by one that he would run it on 5% commision if I put it on his plate (plenty on here will deny that !) so use that as a yardstick. I would estimate £20/hr would be a good rate for support these days, teens are more likely though.
          Good luck.

Which agency offered you the 3 month contract? Am I missing something here?
It's my opinion and I'm entitled to it. www.areyoupopular.mobi

                Many questions: contract & expenses

                Hi all

This is related to a previous thread about a contract I've got in Paris. Have received the contract but want to get it checked. Not specifically for IR35 (as would prob use Bauer&Cotrell for that), but just for general T&C's. Anyone got any suggestions? Also anyone know of a good accountant that can advise me on how to best set myself up? Via a ltd or to stay with my current umbrella? With regards to expenses, do I need to include them in my contract as they have send me a Standard Expenses document outlining what I can claim and how. Sorry for the 1001 questions!!!

Ltd all the way. B&C can do IR35 checks but for T&C it would be a lawyer. There shouldnt be anything in the contract that is confusing.

                    Hi

I've got the job via an agency.

Though not sure whether to go with Giant or Parasoul IT or my own umbrella company.
TBH I'm doing this contract to see if

                    a. I like Contracting
                    b. If I like london.

I've been working on designing and implementing a citrix farm over the past year so am looking for more work in that line of field.

the contract is £30 per hour. The only thing is i have a house back home and for 3 months isn't worth renting out. But that depends on how i get on down south!!
