    Another hello!

    Hello,

    I hope everyone is well!

I'll admit to being a 'lurker' on this forum and have now plucked up the courage to join. I'm not new to contracting, have done so for around 10 years, but definitely appreciate perspective from peers and etc. I'm especially keen to talk to those who have and manage health issues whilst contracting.

Looking forward to chatting with you all.

Feel free, I had three bad times, one life threatening, the last one, that along with with some unexpected expenses almost wiped out my warchest so at 56 it's time to rebuild. Again!

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger I firmly believe that, I'm not finished yet...

I think that moment I think I crave for when I can put my secure well-off feet up and go 'ahhh' is the moment I give up and drop dead in 6 weeks...

        Hello,

Sorry for the delay busy few days and have not managed to get on line till now.

Really sorry to read that, it sounds as though you may have some great memoir material though! I have had a few near life ending events occur myself which has routinely wiped out the war-chest......it is hard to keep trying to recoup but it is not impossible. In terms of actually working when ill and etc, how have you managed the client relationships?

First two meant hospital, first one I felt perfectly ok, bit of arrhythmia ending up with defibrillator fitted after six weeks, all good, went home, started new contract almost straight after. I think prior I'd just finished a role so was on a break, taking time out.

Second time only a few weeks later I got terribly ill, spent another five or six week in ICU, had to quit the role, no issue, got better, it was though it was connected with defibrillator but eventually it was diagnosed as fever of unknown origin. God I was bad, lived on a drip for most of that time, and watched endless crap telly.

Back to work, new role again, all good until beginning of last this year. Got a pancreatic issue as contract ended and spend three months in bed! Think perhaps I jest needed a long rest there, no issues since, it's either totally infirm or totally raring to go with me it seems...

Depends what the health issue is and who the client is.
