    Umbrellas for International work

A little bit of a follow up on the previous topic. I have been offered a year long contract from a company in SE Asia. I wanted to know if any one here can recommend an umbrella which can handle this for me. I've spoken to contractor umbrella and they suggested i speak to [http://w we.internationalumbrella.com" - international umbrella as it is a long term contract.I am unable to get hold of some one on the phone , so a little worrying sign for me. Is there any other umbrella you folks have used for international contracts and could recommend.

    Cheers!

I did this for a year about 15 years ago, used https://www.filetraveloverseas.com/, who appear to be still in business.

This might be prejudice on my part due to the association of the Isle of Man / British Virgin Islands / etc with the schemes discussed at some length elsewhere on this forum, but many of the operators in this "space" appear to be pretty sketchy.

That said, it worked OK for me at the time, got paid a day or two after they did every month.

The "problem" that these umbrellas solve is that if you have a UK Ltd of which you are the only, or a controlling, director, there is a risk that your company will be deemed "resident" in whatever location you are in for the purposes of the assignment, which has further scope to cause a world of regulatory pain, potentially enhanced by being in a language you don't speak.
