    Contract hours.

    I posted the same question in the general forum but was recommended posting here.
    I was offered and signed a contract to work abroad for a UK company. The contract specified an hourly rate and also specified a 45 hour working week. However now I have arrived on site they actually only work 40 hours. Where do I stand with claiming payment for the missing 5 hours to make it up to 45 hours as per the contract?

    You get paid based on the signed timesheets. If you only worked 40 hours, you will only get paid for 40 hours. If you don't do the work, you don't get paid. If you haven't worked the hours that your contract says, why should you get paid for them?

      That's not quite what you said in the original forum but we'll let you off with demerits for poor typing. You also said you've been contracting for 10 years, but are arguing you should be paid for hours not worked. If you worked 50 hours a week, would you then be happy only to get paid for 45 of them because that's what the contract said?

      So sorry, still does not compute. Go and read your contract properly, not just the bits you think you like.

          If the client works 40 hours and your contract says 45 hours you should stay in the office one hour more each day.

          Why didn't you stay in the office 9 hours a day?

              Who do you mean by 'they' - permies ? If so, you cannot compare your hours to these hours.
