Contractor role different to job spec

Hi all, asking for a friend..(yes way - it happens!).

A mate of mine has just started a new contract - the role was described as a functional consultant within his area of specialism etc etc,. . He got put straight into the IT support dept running/fixing data migration scripts from legacy systems (never done it before in his life!). It sounds like an internal guy has taken all the good stuff and passed on the stuff he doesn't want. My mate is not amused (I am!), but he is bothered that this could be an IR35 risk - he is not doing what he was contracted to do and what is described on the contract? I said I would ask you lot, the fonts of all knowledge!

    Thanks in advance.

Wrong forum and IR35 aside, it sounds like he needs to get the hell out ASAP before he ruins his CV.

There is an enormous difference between what might be a risk and what is reality concerning IR35. I'd advise your friend to start worrying about something else.

Permies giving contractors sh!t jobs is par for the course.

Excellent troll, though a waste of a sockie!
