    Legal Sector Contracts

Has anyone undertaken a contract at any of the magic circle law firms, and if so, how did they find it - nature of work, hours, company culture, comparison to other sectors etc etc ?

Interested to hear as I have been offered a role at one and need to make a decision whether to accept or not.

Don't get into a legal bun-fight with them. That's good advice.

Legal eagles are generally fine. The big firms will be like any biog firm. i.e. there's a not a lot to choose between HP and KPMG for a technical contract.
Smaller firms will be more more aggressive on deliverables. And they get p**sed a lot.

        But the money's the same........

Yep ok I'll bite...yes am at one of the biggest global players currently..not sure if that constitutes 'magic circle' but been here 9 months-ish. Culture...well ok actually, reasonably relaxed; hours - yes they're ok with me arriving/leaving when I want (within reason), favourable comparison with other sectors (have done both pub & priv sector work), not sure what else to add. Nature of work, non-legal as you'd expect tbh, more ITSM focused. Yes it's actually fine. No real difference from any other contract and the colour of their money is the same...

            Hi

I've worked within the legal sector for well over 10 years now. During that time I've worked for 5 London based law firms. The nature of work and overall culture will vary from one firm to the next. Larger firms often have more hurdles in place, whereas the smaller ones tend to be more relaxed. Personally, nothing about the legal sector really turns me off.... I rather like it. I find higher-ups really appreciate skilled IT people.

I also have a few legal sector opportunities lined up.... One of the being another perm role - Not a part of my plan I know... But the money and work could drag me back into that life.
