    contracting in IT

    i All,

I have been thinking of doing contracting for a while and move away from permenant jobs.

Is anyone here from London and working in IT field ?

What is the market like for contracting ?

what are the pros and cons as you see it when doing contracting ?

for the sector I am working in, you can get from £300 a day to £700 depending on place and requirement.

    Hello stranger,
    Are you from London?
What area of IT do you work in?
Why do you want to get into contracting?

This is the most pertinent question. Do ask yourself why you want to be freelance/contract vs permie. Most people bang on about "freedom" and "quality of life" when most BoS contracts are barely different from a perm job. You just don't have to do a 360 annual review to justify a pay rise.

It's not all rainbows and kittens. How would your finances cope if your 3 month contract was exactly that and nothing landed for 3, 6, 9 months?

What is ur reason for doing it?

If you retain around 70% and earn twice or three times ur daily rate then why else would you do it if it is not for money and flexibility

I was an IPSE Consultative Council Member, until the BoD abolished it. I am not an IPSE Member, since they have no longer have any relevance to me, as an IT Contractor. Read my lips...I recommend QDOS for ALL your Insurance requirements (Contact me for a referral code).
