Agents doing us over on market rates

    From a different "confessions" article:
Confessions of an Agent | How to steal a Contractor's Job | UK Contractors I Contracting News & Advice

Do you know that you are paying over the market rate for those skills
Idiots. It's in their interests for market rates to be high to maintain decent commissions.

An agent once told me how he used the sell BMWs. He got a new one, disabled the milometer then went to Scotland for the weekend. Re-enabled the milometer.

Another agent told made he slept with a contractor just to get her to take his gig.

Doing someone else over is standard for an agent. You wouldn't expect them to be stupid enough t.... oh, wait.

I've never seen this happen (I'm not saying this isn't done)

Most places I've worked generally would rather keep someone they know and trust rather go with someone cheaper.

If they're not happy with the current contractor then that's a different story

I am not convinced a majority of places would ditch someone who was doing a perfectly good job to save a couple of quid.

          Sounds like nonsense to me.

I've had them do it when I was a perm. Not sure it's a current trick but I've had speculative calls to me when I've worked at clients asking if I was hiring.

That site posts a lot of tulip on LinkedIn, it does seem most of the articles are the ramblings of a half wit, take with a very large pinch of salt!

I have no doubt its a strategy that agencies try... I very much doubt it has much success unless the client isn't happy with the contractor.

Unless they're being squeezed for budget. Some managers operate on numbers rather than people. Takes all sorts.
