Newbie to the game, need to shake of a permie state of mind

Hey all, glad to have found this forum/site. After working on 2nd line and IT projects for a few years, its time to move forward, I am deciding to take the leap (almost, once the CV is polished and umbrella company found).
The advice and tips from member here is awesome.

Forum admin/moderator you're making more happy people than a cold well deserved pint, big up yourself.

Don't forget to give Contractor Umbrella a call if you are looking. They post on here a lot and have done a lot for contractors.

      Creep.

It can take a while to shake the permie paradigm. But if you post your issues here, I'm sure NLUK will knock it out of you in short order.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

          I'll give you my experience.

I was lucky, extremely lucky in fact, to be around some good contractors who really knew the game when I started. I was clueless to the fact a contractor mindset even existed. It didn't take me long for those guys to smarten me up - and I've become a better person for it. I don't get as stressed as I used to, and I can see the office politics on the client side so clearly it isn't even funny.

I would say it took me about a month to say to myself "My God, what have I been thinking all this time?" I had a total epiphany. I'm still in this same contract, so laid back in my personal life now - it's unreal. I was a horrible individual to myself and maybe even others as a permie because of how I was treated.

In a nutshell, give it time. It'll all click.

Erm.. Your closing line doesn't reflect what you say happened to you. You said experienced contractors smartened you up, not time.
