A mate of mine sent me his CV to review.
Couple of points.
1) He insists on simple typefaces/layouts to minimise mangling by agent systems. However whenever I've seen what CV interviewers have in their hands, the formatting looks very similar/identical to what I sent to the agent, fancy stuff included. My assumption is the agent reads exactly what you sent and they make minor edits (cut contact details) and just send on to client. The CV does quite likely get put in some database and get mangled but who cares: you only ever get rubbish leads from databases.
2) He's got a photo of himself. I've always thought that's dangerous unless you are young and good looking.
What are your thoughts?
