    CV or LinkedIn profile?

What do you all use to find your next contract? I always keep my CV updated incase I want to apply for an interesting role. However I feel like LinkedIn these days works the best to get contacted, and I'm not bother updating it.
So which one works the best for you? CV or your LinkedIn profile?

        Contracts find me.

...apart from contractor killers, who haven't found me yet.

But honestly, if I haven't been called about it, word of mouth from other contractors.

I'll discuss that with accountant but i think i will be drawing that funds and pay tax in the end. The hassle is not worth it.

Do the bold items tell you what you need to do next?

If either help in anyway they make sure they are both up to scratch. I don't know about you but I can't afford to be missing an opportunity just because I can't be bothered. I'll let others do that and sweep up what they miss

p.s. your CV and linkedin are very different tools and provide completely different avenues to achieve the same end. If you don't fully understand this then you need to.. quick.

LI is rubbish. Those people who say they were contacted by former clients because of it would have been contacted by them if they'd acted like a business and left company cards and contact details then made people aware in the organisation they would be happy to contact them at any time in the future.

LI is just an agent's spamming tool, end of.

Disagree. I always get a couple of recommendations from people I've worked with when I leave a place. Not the 'click here to endorse', but a few, real words. They've stacked up over time (I currently have 32 on my profile).

This says that real people think you do a good job, and act as proxy references. Whenever I'm recruiting someone I check them out on LinkedIn, so I suspect that other people do the same..

I think LinkedIn is great but problem I have is I can't present a customised profile for specific jobs. To past agents and HR you have to your previous role title be exactly the same as the one you're going for which really limits opportunites for no good reason.

LI is also good for comedy value checking out the recommendations given to absolute numpties. Really baffles me sometimes.
