13/14 Check of Self-Assessment tax return

    Hi all,

Just received another annoying letter, this year regarding check for my 13/14 return, letter dated 13 Oct where my return was submitted 4th of Nov 14.

Long story short it asks for my loan schedules along with bank statements to show the amounts.

It also ask for promotional material I received etc.

What everyone take on this? My friend received a similar letter last yr for 12/13 and he got told to IGNORE it by contractor helpdesk. After reading here and on ContractorUK forum I am not so sure is a good idea now...

    Thanks

    Hi Phil,

Is your scheme provider still around? They may be able to help with the reply. Failing that I'd take some independent advice on what to do with the response.

I saw you were looking for the Big Group signup details - They can provide services dealing with these letters.

Thanks for your response, they are Garraway but they are "no longer around" in a legal sense as they just refer me to contractor helpdesk.

Ah ok, well in that case seek some independent advice on answering these letters. Big Group can help with this.

          NEVER ignore an HMRC request.

By all means contest it, challenge its legitimacy and its statutory power but NEVER ignore it.
