Radbroke Hall - offered contract at barclays

    Hello Chaps

I've been offered a contract at Radbroke Hall for some UI work/java backend (.Net dev by trade ). I was just wondering what its like currently to work there? I've read older posts just looking for something more recent as I don't want to accept the gig if the place is a mess to work. (I'm still currently in a gig fora month or 2 more)

    Any input would be great.

    Thanks.

    Thanks.
Worked there a few years back. Very nice place, cricket/football on the lawns at lunchtime, crocket! and a gym.

Was only there for 3 months as found some stuff back down south but worked with a few contractors who were there for a little while.

Although they do end your contract after a year I believe!!

Worked at Radbroke (and elsewhere) for Barclays several times over the years. Always enjoyed it.

Was last at Radbroke 18 months ago now, but was much the same as always. Good social scene on-site if you are in the right team - football, cricket, running, gym etc, reasonable catering facilities on site - canteen, Starbucks, small shop.

RH is out in the sticks though, so you'll need to catch the staff bus from Knutsford Station or drive - and parking on site is tight at the best of times. Hotels aren't particularly cheap due to the demand from Barclays and occasional football teams playing in Manchester.

I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

I believe contractors don't get a parking pass now so you may have trouble parking.

Add at least 10% to the rate you're looking for because there's a good chance they will hit you with a 10% reduction at some point.

            I'd agree ref 10%.

I had heard about the parking on here, but I can't believe it - there must be 100's of contractors at Radbroke, where do they all park now, and how do they get to site?

Car pool from Knutsford or use the laybys just outside the site.

Not having parking on site probably wouldn't unduly bother me, but I'm in the minority as I'm happy to run or cycle, whatever the weather, and plenty of places to stay within a sensible running distance. For the majority of contractors though that must be pretty rubbish - anyone doing it at RH currently? How does it work? How much time does it add to each day?

                  Thanks for the replies.

The parking seems to a bit of an issue and I've been looking for cheap places to stay over? Any body got any ideas? Also i know they have a gym is it free or is a monthly thing?

Radbrooke is in the middle of nowhere and ISTR not many places to stay within reasonable distance and at reasonable cost.

I know two people there at the moment, one from Stoke and one from West Mids and they do the daily commute..
